Special Olympics Kansas is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports competitions, health and nutrition programs and leadership development. Offering year-round initiatives to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics Kansas is a platform for acceptance and inclusion as well as one of the largest advocates for healthy lifestyles in the state – regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or cultural differences.

It is their belief that participation in sports enables challenges and opportunities to be introduced to the participants teaching them teamwork, decision making, leadership, goal-setting, perseverance, commitment and sportsmanship, while developing self-confidence, self-esteem, character and integrity.

Please join us for the 2020 Unified Champion Schools Socially Distanced Social! Since we cannot come together for sports we will come together at a distance to kick off a new type of challenge through the Unified Virtual Fitness Challenge. Come learn more about Unified Champion Schools, about the Unified Virtual Fitness Challenge and see the heart warming movie, Soul Surfer! Soul Surfer tells the story much like ours of an athlete who faces a challenge! We can’t wait to see you there!

In this moving personal account of faith and fortitude, internationally ranked surfer Bethany Hamilton tells how she survived a shark attack that cost her arm–but not her spirit. The film stars AnnaSophia Robb, Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid, and Lorraine Nicholson with Carrie Underwood, Kevin Sorbo, Sonya Balmores, Branscombe Richmond, and Craig T. Nelson.
